Woodland Walk Workshop

Woodland Walk Workshop
Level: Beginner
10.00am – 12.30pm
Price £75 per person
Take inspiration from a woodland walk in the British countryside. You will have the opportunity to make a gorgeous collection of fused glass decorations / sun catchers for your home. Suzanne will demonstrate a variety of simple but effective, creative glass techniques which you will be able to incorporate when making your decorations.
Immerse yourself in rich, jewel colours to create a miniature autumnal leaf wreath surrounding a tiny toadstool! Learn how to encase a delicate golden dragonfly and glittering gold metal flakes within leaf green glass. Draw spines on a hedgehog design using an easy but effective Sgraffito glass paint technique. Experiment with specialist glass paper cutouts to create fern and butterfly motifs. Mix special liquid concoctions to incorporate gold, bronze accents.
Does it matter if I’m a complete beginner?
This creative workshop is perfect for beginners as no glass cutting is involved. Previous art / craft experience isn’t necessary as Suzanne will guide you step by step and give individual support. Suzanne has taught specialist art courses for over thirty years and understands the importance of instilling confidence, where necessary.
This creative workshop is ideal for those who enjoy arts and crafts and would like a gentle introduction to the art of fused glass.
What will I make?
· Miniature toadstool autumn wreath approximately 10x10 cms
· Golden dragonfly decoration approximately 3x3 cms
· Hedgehog decoration approximately 4x4 cms
· Flora and fauna decoration approximately 3x3 cms
After your creative workshop Suzanne will fire your glass in a specialist kiln here at Seabird Studio. This process, taking over 24 hours, accurately heats and cools your glass to fuse and join the pieces together. Suzanne will add organza ribbons to your finished glass decorations.
As it will not be possible for you to take your glass home on the day Suzanne will carefully package your finished glass. Your glass will be posted to you, at no additional cost, via Royal Mail Tracked 48 with signature.

This is an Inclusive Ability Creative Workshop
During Suzanne’s art and design teaching career she has met many people who find it challenging to use their hands to grip or squeeze hand tools. Or, perhaps, you just don’t feel like cutting glass but would still like to make some glass goodies!
In response to this Suzanne has created Inclusive Ability Creative Workshops which do not involve any glass cutting. Instead, participants have a choice of pre-cut glass which is prepared by Suzanne in advance of the workshop.
Whilst Seabird Studio is on the ground floor please contact Suzanne via email to discuss any studio access queries you may have. Seabird Studio is not fully wheelchair accessible due to a number of shallow steps and shingle parking area and footpaths.
Some of the glass making processes will require standing up for periods of time. Please bear this in mind when considering a workshop.
If you have any queries regarding workshops please don’t hesitate in contacting Suzanne via email.
