Hi, I’m Suzanne and I design and make kiln fired glass gifts which are available through my online shop, select retail outlets and galleries.  I also teach glass making classes from my studio “Seabird" in the heart of the Norfolk countryside.

From a very young age I was happiest creating pictures and making things.  Fast forward to my late teens when I studied at Loughborough College of Art and Design; firstly a one year Art Foundation Course followed by a degree in Three Dimensional Design specialising in Jewellery and Silversmithing.  After graduating at twenty one I was immediately offered a jewellery residency at South Hill Park Arts Centre, Berkshire.  Here I began my silversmithing and jewellery teaching career.  I went on to a full time teaching post at world renowned Eton College.   During the eleven years I was at Eton I specialised in teaching silversmithing and jewellery courses as well as teaching and being a personal tutor on Eton summer schools.  I went on to become co-director for the Brent Eton Summer School.

Having moved to Suffolk I studied fine art printmaking, fused glass making and silver clay.  In Suffolk I taught Art, Design and silver jewellery and glass making courses to adults and children.  I also hugely enjoyed devising and directing an Eco Art Festival, bringing together professional artists, musicians, dancers and storytellers.  The Festival enabled primary school children to celebrate art, dance, drumming, musical instrument making and story telling.

Fair Trade company Jungleberry commissioned me to design two jewellery collections using sustainable materials from the Amazon Rain Forest.  My work has been sold in galleries and shops in London, Suffolk and Norfolk.

I now love living in Norfolk and Balham, south London.  My studio in rural Norfolk is not too far from the sea.  Local beaches are where I love to beachcomb for pebbles and glass tumbled smooth by waves.  Whenever I’m on London’s Southbank I can never resist mudlarking (beachcombing) on the Thames shoreline.  I’m forever drawn to the tranquil aquamarine colours found on the Mediterranean coast.  This colour palette is often reflected in my glass designs.  The beautiful simplicity of Scandinavian design has long been the inspiration for my glass winter decorations.

I endeavour to lead my life and my practice as a maker with sustainable considerations in mind.  My small business continues to support environmental and humanitarian charitable causes.
